Group Sound Bath

Some people unwind with a long bubble bath or a glass of wine. Others prefer a sound bath. Though many people have only recently heard of sound baths, the use of music for healing is nothing new.

From Tibetan singing bowls to Aboriginal didgeridoos, music has been used for its therapeutic effects for thousands of years. The ancient Greeks used sound vibration to aid in digestion, treat mental disturbance, and induce sleep, and even Aristotle's De Anima detailed how flute music could purify the soul.

The relaxing musical presentations are becoming more popular in the United States, likely linked to the country’s increased interest in health, wellness, meditation and mindfulness.

A sound bath experience has many benefits. In our culture we are becoming more and more aware of holistic approaches for relaxation and healing, to combat the everyday stresses of modern life—a sound bath can offer the perfect solution. It gives you the opportunity to go inward on your own terms. People often feel like they are being submerged in sound, like the sound waves created by the Tibetan singing bowls are a visceral thing and they are washed in waves of water.

A sound bath is an immersion in sound frequency that cleanses your soul.

By using particular combinations of rhythms and frequencies, it is possible to shift our normal beta state (alert, concentrating, reacting) to an alpha (creative, relaxed), and even theta (meditative state) and delta (deep sleep; where restoring and healing can occur).

This experience is helpful for anyone who wants to give themselves a moment of relaxation or gain the benefits from meditation, but has not yet learned how to access on their own. Meditating with singing bowls reduces blood pressure more than meditation alone, according to the Human Activation Science.

The sound bath experience is about letting the sound take you to a deeper place making it easier to arrive in a relaxed state without complicating how to get there. Sound is the vessel and it allows you to explore and identify what a meditative state is and how it feels.
